Quite a busy week as everyone crams their year-end news into the final working days of the year… Education Politics ![]() ![]() ![]() I’ve been getting inspired by some of the blogs I read, and by Quilting Arts magazine articles. I’ve been feeling the itch to pull out the art quilt projects that I was working on last spring, and finish some of them off. I think my desire to finish a couple of traditional quilted items has been satisfied. This is my third finished project for 2012. Tonight we try them out for the first time. So I added satin stitch in green along the seam lines between the three fabrics. I liked it, but it seemed like it needed something to punch it up a bit. I quilted straight lines using the wedge ruler as a guide, to echo the wedge shapes in the table runner. This is one of the placemats, layered and flipped in the same manner as the table runner, and then quilted. I chose from the fabrics used in the table runner, using the ones that I had the most of. I also needed to make them wider than usual, because we often have both a dinner plate and a salad plate on the table at the same time. The table runner is quite wide, so I needed to make the placemats shallow. The only thing that was missing was a set of matching placemats. I’m very happy with it – the colours go very well in the room, and it has a contemporary flair to it that I really like. I quilted it by sewing curving lines that follow the curves of colour, using matching cotton thread for each swirl. In this picture it is ready to sew, with the batting, backing and top all layered in order: I went with the stitch-and-flip method of layering, as recommended in the pattern, so I wouldn’t have to stitch on a binding. Once the wedges were sewn together, the corners were trimmed off to create a smooth curve. It looks sort of cool like that, doesn’t it? Here is the spiral top, with the wedges all stitched together. I used 8 batik fabrics, moving from dark green to dark purple, with light tones in the middle. In fact, I think the hardest part was choosing the fabrics. This was a fun and quick pattern to make. I found this pattern – Spicy Spiral Table Runner from School House Quilts – at my local quilt shop, and bought it and a 10 degree wedge ruler to go with it. I’ve wanted something for that table for ages. Put some tissue paper between the hanger and the runner first.I’ve finished another table runner – this one for the dining room table. You can also hang it from a padded clothes hanger. Store it horizontally in the linen closet. Roll a few sheets of acid-free tissue paper over the roll, then roll the runner over it, and cover it with more acid-free paper. ![]() You can do this with a mailing tube or even an old paper towel tube. When they are not being used, the proper way to store them is to iron them, if they can be ironed, and then roll them up. Do not use fabric softeners, for these can weaken the weave of the fabric. ![]() If there is a care label, follow the instructions. Use warm or even cold water and oxygen-based bleach. Wash the runner immediately after it is used, even if you intend to keep it on the table as a decoration. With most fabrics, rinse what is left of the spill with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. How do you take care of a runner?Ī lot of how the piece is laundered or not depends on the material it is made of. They can be reversible and have patterns of plaid, gingham, leaves, flowers, and paisley. They can be embroidered or embellished with sequins or beads. Some are made of burlap or burlap edged with lace or ribbon, and some are fringed or have tassels at their ends. They can be woven to look like medieval tapestries or Mexican serapes, be made of scraps of fabric for a quilted look, or made of braided jute. They include lace, silk, velvet, satin, cotton, and linen. Table runners are made out of a great variety of materials. A runner can just overhang the ends or can hang down nearly to the floor. Table runners are long, narrow pieces of fabric that run down the center of the table from one end to the other. ![]() With the vast variety of options to choose from, there is a table runner for any type of dinner party or event. On the other hand, they can enliven an informal dinner party with a fun motif or a holiday dinner with patterns of holly or Easter lilies. Recording Studio: Fox Studio EQ Trackdown Stage, Sydney AUSTRALIA. Sure, Street Fighter and the like were amusing enough on the SNES in 1992, but can the genre still be relevant in 2008? Soulcalibur IV would suggest so. Undoubtedly, Soulcalibur IV is very good and has at least one genuinely brilliant new feature. Purchasing this add-on unlocks Setsuka as a playable character in the main game of SOULCALIBUR VI, as well as an exclusive story for Setsuka in Soul Chronicle. Online requires a lot of patience also as the competition is intense ( as to be expected spose). While we're on the subject of clothing SC-V did something different. Items seem more rewarding to earn in IV and you can either unlock them through challenges or by purchasing them with in-game points. There's not as many items in IV but there's still a bunch. Overall I recommend to fans but to noobs it's too taxing to remember the moves and too repetitive to enjoy over a long period of time. First off character creation is better in SC-V. The last beat em up I really enjoyed was Rocky on the xbox which isnt really a beat em **** im confused. The gameplay is enjoyable enough but I was bored after 2 days. One thing that can be said 3 years later the games graphics still look crisp and beautiful. I guess what I'm trying to say is Im not a fan of the genre hence can't review this game fairly. I find 3d beat em ups so different from 2d ones that they fall into a different category. I think If you are into this sort of thing this is perhaps ( level with Tekken) the best game out there. SoulCalibur, the game that defined weapon-based 3D fighting games is back Two decades after its first iteration, SoulCalibur VI returns to its roots while bringing brand-new gameplay features to the fight.
